In recent times, no disease has had such devastating impact
on the world as the Acquired immune-deficiency Syndrome (AIDS).In
December, 2002, the Science teachers Association of Nigeria
(STAN) as part of its anti-HIV/AIDS activities published an
article by the International Bureau of Education entitled ‘Preventing
HIV/AIDS in schools’ in the Association’s Bulletin
and distributed copies to schools nationwide. Due to the way
the article was favorably received, the Association has been
carrying out more education-based anti-HIV/AIDS campaigns. The
STAN Physical and Health Education panel has been playing a
leading role in this direction.
