Biology

  • actionbioscience.org: www.actionbioscience.org provides lessons for the high school through undergraduate level to accompany its peer-reviewed articles examining bioscience issues. Lessons are written by educators and correlated to NSES standards. Articles and lessons focus on issues in biodiversity, environment, genomics, biotechnology, evolution, new frontiers in the sciences, and education. BioScience Productions, Inc.
  • American Society of Plant Biologists (ASPB): Promotes the growth and development of plant physiology, to encourage and publish research in plant physiology, and to promote the interests and growth of plant scientists in general. ASPB

  • Boyce Thompson Institute for Plant Research: The Last Straw Project offers users an unique opportunity to design and carry out experiments in plant physiology, using a plant simulation model based on actual experimental parameters. In addition, there is an animated tutorial and on-line assessments for users to learn about plants, then check their understanding.   • BIODIDAC - a data bank of thousands of images, with short descriptions, in zoology, botany and histology.
  • Biodiversity and Biological Collections Web Server - extensive links to collections of biological resources.
  • Biographical Dictionary of Biologists - biographical sketches of biologists from the 19th and 20th century.
  • The Biology Place - research updates, links and student activities in many biology areas.

  • Medicine:WWW Virtual Library - start here to search for a wide range of medicine resources.
  • Microbe Zoo - images and descriptions of microscopic organisms and the habitats in which they live.
  • Microbiology and Virology:WWW Virtual Library - a good starting point to look for resources in these areas.
  • Multimedia Medical Reference Library - comprehensive medical information, images, audio and a list of other related sites.
  • Muscle Net - information and links on muscle biology, neuromuscular disorders, cardiomyopathies, and recent research on these topics.
  • Mycological Resources on the Internet - part of the WWW VL, this is the ultimate list of resources of interest to mycologists.
  • National Library of Medicine - lots of medical information and resources are available here!
  • NetVet and the Electronic Zoo - the authoritative source for veterinary medical or animal information.
  • Neuroscience for Kids - a site designed for students and teachers who would like to learn more about the nervous system: an extensive collection of experiments, activities, information and links to neuroscience resources.
Online Biology Book - over 40 chapters developed from freshman level lecture outlines by Michael Farabee, with many illustrations and links.
